The fact of the matter is, there are true Christians in Church, there are backsliders in church, there are unsaved people at church, even the devil goes to church etc etc. Im certain at one point I was pursuing God but it became an idol itself. In these emotional services People are spinning and dancing and that must mean we really have the spirit, right? I wanted to experience the supernatural aspects that the charismatic / Pentecostal movement was known were brass.". church and if I left, I would be hurting the work of God and forcing others to pick up the slack. If I was going to have a genuine close encounter with God, I expected that I would walk away forever Sooo sad for you that you were trapped for soooo LONG!!! It felt like the kind of church that was much more in tune with God and a relational experience instead of just going through the actions. There is much Bible illiteracy here. Everyone at our church always has their bible out so that they know where to seek the Lord. I attend a Pentecostal church after leaving the Catholic church. As stated in previous posts, I believe that God speaks but if you have a word it better not go against His Word. I had tasted that discipline before, but I knew it was nothing compared to what was In reading, studying, praying, and using 1 John 4 as a litmus test, Gods word (imagine that) gave me clarity and hope in a frustrating situation. Otherwise you are judging ALL and condemning ALL in the Pentecostal Movement. When you are leaving it can be overwhelming. We need to be rooted and grounded in the Word to stand regardless of what some else does or does not do. They can become convoluted, because of that I cannot be sure that they are a definite dream/vision/direction from God so I simply stick to the scriptures no matter what dream/vision I have or how in line it may appear. just as important (or perhaps even more important) than believing correctly.
